

Herbert was born in the Bronx, NY, son of Samuel & Mae Caspert (deceased) where he spent his early childhood years with his sister Rita (deceased) before the family moved to Manhattan.
He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.
Beloved husband of Bernice Caspert they were married in 1956 in New York and started a family in Teaneck before moving to Englewood Cliffs where they raised their family and lived for 35 years. For the last 20 years they have resided in Norwood.
Herbert was a Professional Auctioneer for 65 years in his family business founded in 1921. He was a 50 year member of the Munn Masonic Lodge; a member of both the NJ State Society of Auctioneers and National Auctioneers Association; a 20 year member of Temple Emanu-El of Closter and a Past President of the Fort Lee Jewish Community Center. Last year, Herbert was inducted into the NY Football Giants Season Ticket Holder Hall of Fame.
Herbert was committed to his family, his community and his work. For 58 years he was the beloved husband of Bernice Caspert; loving father of Mitchell Caspert (Shari) of North Caldwell, Ronald Caspert (Laurie) of Woodcliff Lake and Lisa Robins (Robert) of Leonia; devoted grandfather of Alexis, Samantha, Bryce, Rachel, Sam, Kenny, Jason, and Matthew.
Funeral services in the care of Gutterman-Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors (201-489-3800) will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Temple Emanu-El, 180 Piermont Road, Closter, NJ 07624. Entombment will follow at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah in Paramus, NJ.
