Karen Terach, age 70, passed away peacefully in her home on February 26, 2018, leaving behind her loving husband of 48 years, Irwin Terach; her daughter, Julie Garofalo and her spouse, Chris Garofalo; her son, Michael Terach and his spouse, Stephanie Terach; and her brother, Irwin Sperber and his spouse Andi Bartzack. Karen was born on February 25, 1948, the daughter of Samuel and Emily Sperber, and grew up in Far Rockaway, New York. She was an impeccable cook, a crossword puzzle enthusiast, and an avid reader. Karen had a passion for volunteering and after achieving a blackbelt in Tae Kwan Do, she taught handicapped children to persevere. Above all, Karen was a superb wife and mother and loved spending time with her family, especially her four grandchildren, Emma and Elise Terach, and Sean and Sophia Garofalo. She was greatly loved and will be missed by her in-laws, nieces, great nieces and nephews, and all of her many friends and family.
A funeral service will be held at Gutterman and Musicant Funeral home in Hackensack, NJ at 2pm on February 28, 2018.
In lieu of food or gifts, the family asks that a donation be made to Garden State German Shepherd Rescue; a cause near and dear to Karen’s heart.
