

We honor the life of Marvin Lawrence Golland of Hackensack, NJ who left this world peacefully in the presence of family at the age of 84 on June 21, 2021. Marvin was born March 25, 1937 in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He was born as the first child to Julius and Zelda Golland.
Marvin was a proud son of Brooklyn, NY and grew up with his sister and parents in Williamsburg in the 1940’s and 1950’s.
Marvin started college at CUNY pre-engineering and at the age of 17 transferred to The Ohio State University. There he joined Phi Sigma Delta fraternity and earned a Bachelor degree in Operation Research and Industrial Engineering.
After college Marvin spent 6 months in the National Guard. Upon returning home, he soon got on track with his work in the early days of the computer industry.
Over the years, Marvin continued his education at Baruch College where he earned an MBA in computer science and at NYU where he completed a Masters in Management.
Marvin envisioned the coming of the computer revolution and first job was with Western Union and then worked for A&S Department Store developing manual systems. He worked as a systems analyst for Zales Corporation and then joined Peat Marwick & Mitchell as a management consultant where he became a partner.
Throughout his corporate time and beyond, he was an adjunct professor at Baruch, Montclair State, Brooklyn Polytechnic and several other colleges and universities.
Marvin had two children with his first wife, Judith Rogat. His son Jay, an attorney in Rockland County, New York & daughter Lara, a Wellness practitioner who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
In 1998, Marvin married Beth Allen. They remained married and in love until the end of his life.
Marvin valued hard work and family and was a lover of all things chocolate. He was an avid supporter of NPR and was a volunteer advisor for SCORE.
Marvin is survived by his wife Beth Allen, daughter Lara, son Jay,, granddaughter Taylor and grandson Aaron, sister Sherry Goldstein and brother in law, Dr. Robert Goldstein, step-daughter Laurie Corrigan and her husband Robert Corrigan and stepson Alan Durell and his wife Katherine Baicker.
Marvin is predeceased by Mother Zelda & Father Julius and cousins Marlene and David and their daughter Allison.
