Maybelle attended Hackensack High School. In 1944, she enlisted in the US Marine Corps during World War II. She was sent to Camp Lejeune, NC for boot camp, then placed with the Marine Air Corps in CA where she became a Corporal. After the war, she attended a Jewish War Veterans convention at the Concord Hotel and met the love of her life, Jacob Schneider. They were married in September 1949, and settled in Teaneck, NJ.
Maybelle was a life long member of Hadassah, ORT, and the National Council of Jewish Women, and was actively involved in local and Jewish organizations for decades.
She played golf into her 80’s and bridge though age 94, always a contender .
Both Maybelle and Jacob loved to travel worldwide. After her husband died, Maybelle, being very independent, continued to travel often, especially enjoying her trips with Tobi.
Maybelle was very fortunate to meet Milton Schaefer after Jacob died, enjoying 10 years of companionship until his death. Maybelle is survived by her son, StuartSchneider and his wife Peggy; her daughter Tobi Schneider and her partner Steven Neumeister; her grandchildren Lee Schneider L’Heureux and his wife Tiffany Boucher, Aaron Schneider L’Heureux and his partner Ray Auduong, Benjamin Schneider and his partner Eva Wingren, and Rebecca Schneider; nephew Stephen Schneider and his partner Janis Strong; niece Louise Schneider and her husband Richard Adler; great granddaughter Wallis Ann L’Heureux.
The family can never express enough love and gratitude to Luz Navarro Zardoya, and her loving family, for 40 years of dedication, caring, love and kindness to Maybelle.
Thanks to the wonderful caregivers during her last months with special thanks to Chineta Hewitt for the exemplary care she gave to our mother.
