

Agnes "Nesta" Graham Arthur nee MacKay, 94 years of age of Halifax NS passed away on Friday Oct. 17, 2014 at the Queen Elizabeth 2 Infirmary. Born in Perth Scotland she was the daughter of Patrick and Isabella MacKay. She was the third daughter in a family of 4 girls and 6 boys. She joined the RAF during WW 2 and served in Lossiemouth, Scotland where she met her future husband Donald Francis Arthur. She came to Canada on the Aquitania in 1947 as a war bride, arriving at Halifax Pier 21. She was a mother and homemaker who loved to have her family surrounding her, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to ice skate as a youth and dance to the big bands and Englebert Humperdink. In her later years, some of her favorite pastimes were going for drives in the country and picking up an ice cream cone, visiting the beach to watch the waves and swimmers, and watching the sailboats in the harbour.
She is survived by her son Donald Bruce Arthur (Dianne) of Yarmouth NS; her daughter Lorna Ann Brown (Ashley Sellick) of Richmond BC; 1 brother Kenneth MacKay of Perth Scotland; 1 sister Patricia Malcolm (nee MacKay) of Perth Scotland; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces in Scotland.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Donald Francis Arthur and an infant daughter Lynn, brothers Ian, Pete, Bill, Ron and Roy, sisters Ruby and Ella.
