

Knight, Albert James "Bert", 84, of Halifax, passed away January 28, 2015 at the QE II Health Sciences Centre 8.4. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Herbert Knight and Viola (O'Connell) Knight-Doucette. Bert was a member of the Canadian Provo Corps and he was also a boxer during his early years. He retired from Dalplex where he was well liked by all students and falculty. he had played in a band with his brother Reg. He loved animals, enjoyed going for walks and he loved to watch baseball games, especially the World Series. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family. Bert is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Rose (Jones), Halifax; sons; Michael (Terri-Lee Chapman), Halifax and James, Sydney Mines; daughter, Satrina (Tyson) Slaunwhite, Terence Bay; brother, Joseph (Rose MacDonald) Doucette, Halifax; sister, Mary (Earl) Donaldson (Doucette), tatamagouche; grandchildren, Kyle and Erin Slaunwhite; one nephew and several nieces. He was predeceased by brothers, William, Herbert and Eric "Reg". Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Cruikshank's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax where the funeral service will take place 2 pm Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Burial to follow in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Thank you to Melville Lodge for their wonderful care.
