Alice Evelyn Evans

Evans, Alice Evelyn, Halifax. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of our mother Alice Evans on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at home, two weeks after celebrating her 90th birthday. Born in Leitches Creek, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie (MacDonald) Mac Queen. Alice moved to Halifax in 1955 with her husband , Carl and three young children ,but always called Cape Breton ” Home”. Alice was a member of Rockingham United Church where she was an Honorary Elder and a life member of the United Church Women. After Carl died in 1973 Alice rejoined the workforce working at the Registry of Motor Vehicles until retirement in 1987. Alice was predeceased by loving husband Carl Evans, daughter Margaret Heather in infancy, brothers Donald and Jack MacQueen, sisters Helen Barker and Margaret Holton. She is survived by sister, Mary Allen, North Sydney, sons David Evans ; Halifax, Don Evans ( Barbara Hicks) , Dartmouth and daughter Mary Lou Isaacs (Claude) Halifax, grandchildren Amanda Clay (Shaun) BC, Ashley Evans, Halifax; David Evans , Alberta : Jamie Evans , Dartmouth; Michael and Brian Isaacs, BC; great-grandchildren Sydney and Ace Clay, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation 6-8 pm Friday March 23, 2012 in Cruikshanks Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral Service will be held 2 pm Saturday March 24, 2012 in Rockingham United Church, 12 Flamingo Dr. , Halifax. Rev. D. Aitken officiating.
