I loved her and lost her. I am pleased that she had great kids. She had to have been a happy person. I am pleased to think/know that she was. 
I have missed her for all these years. 


I am only know finding out about Barb's death. I babysat the beautiful girls in Herring Cove and knew Barb and Matt at that time.

She was a special lady to everyone she met.  I am now a mom and grandmom as well.  My condolances to Kerry, Stephanie and Shannon.

Typo Correction

Barbara & Matt met at Dalhousie University in Halifax in 1963 and married in 1967. Our last big project together was the purchase and renovation of a lovely home at Ross Point Road, West Bay Cape Breton overlooking the Bras D'or lake. We purchased it in 2005 and sold in 2013

Barbara left us 8 months ago today on Nov 22, 2015. My 3 daughters and families have missed her every day. I have been missing her by the hour. She loved the good times last summer at Bayswater Beach Park.

Barbara passed away in her much loved apartment on November 22, 2015 - 8 months ago. My family think of her everyday and a large part of me left with her since we married in 1997 and headed on the Via overnight train to Montreal - then to Europe on the Cunard Sylvania. What adventures we had!

It is only now that I am hearing of Barb's death. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family. She loved you all, so immensely. Barb was a remarkable social worker, always a champion for the most vulnerable in our society. I was privileged to work with Barb, and I treasure  fond memories of our times together. Barb always raised the bar, in her ideals, hard work, intellect and true compassion. Her death is a great loss to all.

Thank you with appreciation for donations made to the Halifax Region Children's Aid Foundation in Barbara's memory.

All comments from Barb's friends have been extremely appreciated. So many names over the years - personal and professional. It is certainly not a normal Christmas for Kerry, Shannon, Stephie & me! 

But life is life and enjoy every moment of joy that you may. Best Christmas for you all. Barb left us on November 22, the day after the Santa parade that she watched with our youngest grandson JR Patterson.

My sincerest sympathy to Kerry, Shannon and Stephanie and all of Barb's family. I was so shocked to see this this news of her passing.  Barb and I shared an office together in an old home On South street which was The Children's Aid Society of Halifax. It was an honour to work with Barb.  She was so proficient and genuine in everything she did for her clients. I admired her ability to think through really complex situations and most of all the support she gave to everyone with whom she worked.We shared many  a laugh and tear together on and off the job.
