Hanson, Bessie Eileen “Betty” – 88 of Halifax passed away on December 12, 2015 at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Center. Born in Tatamagouche, she was the daughter of the late George and Gladys (Aitchison) Buckler. An employee with the federal government since World War II, she spent the last 20 years of her career at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Headquarters on Oxford St. She married William Hanson at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Halifax in the late 40’s.
Bessie is survived by her son, William Hanson of Halifax; granddaughters, Nicola and Rebecca Hanson of Toronto; and grandson, Ryan Hanson of Halifax. Besides her husband William, she is predeceased by son, George and daughter, Sharon. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed bowling with her league at the Bayer’s Rd. Shopping Center Bowl-a-rama. She was loved and will be missed by many.
Cremation has taken place. A service will be held with Father Paul Morris officiating on Thursday December 17th, 2015 at 10 am at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, 6903 Mumford Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
