Charles Holmes, age 97 of Halifax passed away on February 27 at Camphill Veterans Hospital, the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was the son of the late James and Gertrude (Maguire) Holmes.
He was a veteran of the Second World War having served in Italy and Northwest Europe and a career member of the Halifax Fire department retiring at the rank of Lieutenant.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Gloria (Holmes) McManus and her mother, Dorothy; brothers, George, Robert and James and his sisters, Maureen and Dolly.
Charlie is survived by his granddaughter, Laura Beth (McManus) Dallas of USA.
There will not be a funeral by request and cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at a later date at Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
