

Williams, Cora Evelyn age 98 of Halifax, passed away September 11, 2013, in the Abbie J. Lane Hospital. Born in Windsor, she was the daughter of the late James and Louisa (Upshaw) Hamilton. Mum was the oldest living member of her family. She worked at the VG Hospital and loved playing bingo, crocheting, and knitting. In her younger years, she was a sight to behold on the dance floor. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by daughters, Dora Mae (Peter) Clayton, Halifax; Heather (Teddy) Hackett, Halifax; Coralee (Alan), Leslie Jocelyn (Wayne) Bovie, and Charlotte, all of Ontario; sister, Mulvina Carty, New Jersey; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Sharon; several nieces and nephews. Mum was predeceased by her husband Russell; brothers, Russell, Gorden, Rufus, Hibbert; sisters, Louise, Jessie, Mildred, Gertrude; son, Atley; granddaughter, Dawn – “her homey”. Visitation will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 18 in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Diane Govindsamy officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mum’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
