

It is with sadness that his family announces the death of David Roy Fraser, age 78, who passed away peacefully on February 22, 2014 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Halifax. Born in Halifax, David was a son of the late Henry Roy and Queenie Irene (Cochran) Fraser. He was a lifelong resident of Halifax and attended Queen Elizabeth High School, Dalhousie University and the Technical University of Nova Scotia where he received his degree in Civil Engineering. David’s business career included engineering projects throughout Nova Scotia during his early professional years, followed by 38 years as president of Monarch Enterprises Limited, Dartmouth, a firm which he founded in 1976.David was a long standing member of First Baptist Church, Halifax. He enjoyed time with family and friends during April vacations in Florida, summers at Port Howe, August visits to Kennebunkport, Maine and annual trips to Victoria B.C.. A special and memorable time for all was the fun, fellowship and culinary delights of David’s longstanding July birthday celebrations. He will be lovingly remembered for his kindness, good humour, generosity and quiet, gentle, manner by his wife of 55 years, Joan (McLaughlin), son Peter (Debbie Fitzgerald) of Halifax, daughters Susan Fraser - Mosky (Nick Mosky) of Victoria and Janice Fraser (Steve Machat) of Dartmouth. He was adored and will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Lindsay, Sasha, Hannah, Ella, Sam, Noah, and great grandson, Dylan. David is also survived by his brother Eric (Ginny) of Beaver Bank and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation has taken place. A service in celebration of David’s life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at First Baptist Church,1300 Oxford Street, Halifax, followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Family flowers only. Interment will take place in Camp Hill Cemetery at a later date.
