Age 86, of Halifax, passed away Saturday, March 7th at Northwood Centre. She was the daughter of William Boland and Olive (Oxner) Boland. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Burgoyne and survived by her daughter Susan Evans (Robert). She had been struggling with complications from Alzheimer's disease, and donated her brain for further research. She often took part in research trials as she wanted to be as helpful as she could. She graduated from Tower Road School, where she learned her passion of bridge. She continued her education after QEH at the Halifax Vocational School where she met her long time friend, Jacque Yatzor and started a successful career as a legal secretary. She continued to work in business administration until her retirement. Her loves, other than bridge, were dancing (she met her late husband, Gordon, on the dance floor), dogs, horses (she rode every year with her daughter until she was no longer able - just a couple of years ago), and of course Elvis. She had so much energy and hated to stand still. She loved all her bridge friends and was at her best at the bridge table.
There will be a graveside ceremony at the Fairview Lawn Cemetary in the Spring, once the Corona Virus effects have subsided. And any donations would be appreciated at the Alzheimer's Society or the non-profit of your choice. There will be a further notice a week before the burial.
