DUNPHY, Dorothy Rose - 80
The family of the late Dorothy Dunphy of Timberlea announces, with both profound sorrow and joy, the passing of an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born on November 11, 1944, in Springhill, Nova Scotia, and passed peacefully in her sleep in the Palliative Care Unit at the Victoria General Hospital on August 2, 2025, with family by her side.
Her bravery was so evident throughout her battle with cancer and though she faced tremendous challenges during this difficult time, she remained faithful to the True and Living God, until her final breath.
Revelation 2:10 — “…ye shall have tribulation … be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”
Dorothy was the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian (Rushton) Dunphy. She was predeceased by her brothers Floyd and William (Billy), and sisters Audrey and Janice Dunphy.
She is survived by her son, Troy Goswell, and by daughter Tammela (Michael) Askew, along with her granddaughter and the love of her life, Olivia Faith Askew.
She also leaves behind her brothers Leo (Linda), James (Martha), Kenneth (Mary), and Ronald (Carmella); her sisters Mary (Bill) Mabee, Beverly Whitty, and Edith Bradbury; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends whom she greatly loved and who loved her in return.
We are thankful when Mom was healthy, she was baptized in the name of Jesus by Rev. Linda Smith and we want to honor both of our pastors, Brother and Sister Terry Smith, for their guidance and unwavering support, as well as the Revival Tabernacle Church for praying for our family through this difficult time.
She will never be forgotten and our hearts are all broken, but we can find comfort in knowing the sufferings of this life have ended for her, and she has gone on to receive the reward of her faith, which she boldly confessed to each of us, who she has left behind.
A celebration of life service will take place at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street in Halifax, on August 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Jeff Cowan officiating.
Interment will take place at a later time.
