It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Clarence Patrick Boylan on Friday, March 11th, 2016. He passed away at the age of 80 in Parkland at the Gardens, Halifax. He was the son of the late Clarence and Alice Boylan of New Ross.
He was a loving and devoted husband of 52 years to Shelia Marie Boylan (Richardson). They raised their family in Bridgewater and upon his retirement as news director at CKBW radio station, were fortunate to share their love of travel together. Edward resided in Halifax during his final years but always considered Bridgewater his home.
Edward was a loyal and trusted support to many friends and family. It gave him great joy over the years to share his love of history, politics and world events with many dear friends young and old. Though his body had failed him in final years his mind was still keen. Edward passed away peacefully while watching the Presidential debates on CNN and listening to Johnny Mathis.
He will be deeply missed by his loving daughter, Jennifer; grandchildren, Madeline, Jack, Meredith and Charlie Leckey of Halifax. Edward was predeceased by his wife, Shelia and daughter, Nancy Jayne Boylan. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Parkland at the Gardens and to his caregiver Virgie for their support and kindness during Edwards final months. Thank you to all other family members and friends for their prayers, support, calls and visits.
Memorial service will be held at Bethany United Church, 7171 Clinton Avenue, Halifax on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10:30am with Rev. Kevin Little officiating.
Donations can be made to a charity of choice.
