Elva Mae Walters

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Elva Mae Walters ,87, of Lower Sackville passed away on August 21,2025 at the Victoria General Hospital .

She was the loving wife of Douglas Lloyd Walters and they shared almost 65 years together.

Born in Halifax ,Nova Scotia ,Elva was the daughter of Hazel and Roy Lownds. She graduated from Spryfield High School and the Vocational School in Halifax. Elva was employed as a secretary at Mutual Life and later at Miller & Associates.

She had an active social life-enjoying music, dancing, reading, puzzles and many crafts. Elva will be remembered for her good humour and generous spirit. She never lost her love of Spryfield and was a member of the Mainland South Heritage Society.

Elva is survived by her husband Doug, her children Sherrill (Norton) and Scott, grandchildren Ken (Mary) and Sam. She is predeceased by her parents and son-in-law Craig Norton.

A memorial service only will be held September 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Church, 322 Herring Cove Road in Spryfield . An interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Cruikshank's Funeral Home.
