

George David Scott, 92, of Halifax, entered into eternal rest on May 10, 2017 at the Camphill Veterans Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he spent the last year of his life. He was surrounded by his loving wife Georgina, his son Arthur, and his extended family. George was born in Little Bay East , Fortune Bay Nfld., and came to Halifax to work for Forty Fathom Division of National Sea Products. He was a member of the Merchant Navy and served his country with great pride. He was also a member of Branch 27 of the Nova Scotia Legion, a member of Saint Mother Teresa of Kolkata Parish (previously St. Stephen's Church) and St. Joseph's Parish prior to its closing. George's greatest joy in life was spending time with his entire family. His love for his wife Georgina was unsurpassed. He loved his furry friends Mazzy, Moo, BooBoo and Oscar, enjoyed feeding the birds in his yard, growing his poppies and plants, and boating with his son, Arthur. George is survived by his wife, Georgina Scott (Wells), his son, Arthur David Scott, and daughter-in-law Charlene Corkum. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Albert David Scott (Rhonda Scott) and Nicole Gloria Scott (Chad Rhodenizer), both of Halifax. They were the light of his life.
He was blessed with six beautiful great grandchildren; Cassidy, Madison and Gavin Scott, children of Albert and Rhonda; and Amelia, Ella and Ryeland Rhodenizer, children of Nicole and Chad. He is also survived by his sister, Mildred (Peter) Harrison, who resides in Baddeck, N.S. He always treasured the time they were able to spend together, as well as his sister Lily (Allan Radford), who he loved very much.
He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. George has four sister-in-laws - Colleen, Helen Linda and Noreen, as well as brother-in-laws Robert and Garfield (Skip). He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Alice Scott (Thornhill), his stepfather Eli Clarke, and sisters Winnifred Osborne (North Sydney), and Sarah (Sady) Bennett of Halifax. He was also predeceased by his brother Archibald (Archie) Scott, and brother-in-law Gerald Clarke, along with cousin Arthur Scott and his wife Ellen Scott. George also had many very close friends who brought a lot of joy to his life. They include Carol Thorne, Curtis and Debbie Northrup, Rita and Fred Robichaud, Diane and Roddy De'Bay, Terry Shields (New Port N.S.), and his hairdresser, Wanda Mercery, and many others. There are no words to express the family’s sincere thanks to the entire staff of the Camphill Veteran's Hospital and Dr. Milne for the outstanding care George received in the last year of his life, as well as the respect, grace and love he was shown in his final days.
His nurses on the 4th floor Westwood - Anthony, Allison, Annie, Barb, Kris, Darren, Merin, Mary, Naresh and Suzanne provided an outstanding level of care to both George and his family. Father Michael Grace and Father Andrew were there to assist George on his spiritual journey as well as providing the family with the comfort of prayer and holy communion. Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday May 16, 2017 in Saint Mother Teresa of Kolkata Church. 6032 Normandy Dr. Halifax. The family would also like to thank all of the volunteers at the Camphill Veterans hospital. Their commitment to veterans and improving their quality of life has been a gift to all of us.
