Joan Marguerite Day

Day (Forbes), Joan Marguerite – 79 of Halifax passed away June 9, 2013, at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, after a long battle with COPD. Born in Halifax on March 26, 1934, Joan was the daughter of the late John A. Forbes and Marguerite Mary (Kemp) Forbes.

Joan worked for the Department of National Defense for 36 years starting with the Nova Scotia/PEI Signal Squadron in 1952; 726 Communication Squadron; and lastly 22 and a half years with the Base Surgeon Staff, CFB Halifax.

She is survived by sister-in-law Alva Stuart, Bedford; brother, Peter J. Forbes, Fredericton, NB., nieces, Carol Forbes, Peterborough, Ont.; Margaret Forbes, Montreal; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Joan was predeceased by her husband of 47 years Donald C. Day, her parents, brother, James (Jim); nephews, Peter S. Forbes, Cyril F. Forbes.

There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Theresa’s Church, Thursday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m. Interment of urn will be in the Last Post Columbarium in Fairview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
