

Kelly (Langille), Joan Marie age 78 passed away at home in Halifax June 1st, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Halifax on November 16, 1936 to Ann and Rex Langille. Joan graduated from Saint Patrick’s High School in 1954. From there she studied to be a Lab Technician at the D. J. Mackenzie Building located on University Ave.,Halifax and her Career spanned 38 years. During this time she held the position of supervisor of various laboratories. She is survived by her husband, Patrick (Paddy) Kelly, sisters Eileen Mills (Roger) Delta, BC and Evelyn Murphy Barrett (Pat) Fall River. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Ann and Rex Langille, and her sister Carolyn Joy Petropolis. She is also survived by her brother in law , Dr. Peter Petropolis, Halifax; nephews Dr. Nicholas Petropolis, Port Moody ,BC ,Dr. Christian Petropolis, Winnipeg, MB, Dr. Harrison Petropolis , Halifax; Sean Patrick Murphy ,Ottawa ON ,Darcy Stolte Cloverdale ,BC and niece Coleen Murphy Halifax. Joan and Pat were married in Saint Patrick’s Church, Halifax in 1958. Joan’s many hobbies included fly fishing, golfing, knitting and needle point. For many years Joan attended the Mayflower Curling Club and during this period enjoyed the Halifax Symphony and Neptune Theater. No visitation by request. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 am Friday June 5, 2015 in Saint Patrick’s Church, 2267 Brunswick ST. Halifax, Fr. Jean-Marc Laporte officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank or Colorectal Cancer Canada would be greatly appreciated.
