"With great sorrow, John "Jack" Francis Driscoll, 88, passed away peacefully on 29 Sept 2023.
Jack was born in Halifax to James Roy and Mary Elizabeth (Doyle) and educated at St Patrick's Boys School. Later he graduated with two degrees from St. Mary's University where the Jesuits tried to recruit him, but he was not suited to that life. His many children thank him for that decision.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Mary Patricia (Dowling); children Theresa (Doug), Chris (Debbie), Angela (Paul), Colleen (Steve), Kelly (Robert) and Shaun (Laura); his brother Roy and his children, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Patricia Cole.
He worked for the Department of National Defence until his retirement. Jack liked doing crosswords, read hundreds of crime novels and enjoyed British comedies and mysteries. Jack's favourite sport was baseball and team the St. Louis Cardinals. Growing up a fan of Stan "The Man" Musial, he remained a follower to the end.
Jack had a jovial personality with a great sense of humour that he used to help his children through tough times and which lives on through them. He had a wise shoulder to lean on, a poet's powers of perception and was a romantic at heart. He always provided for his family and is remembered for the memories of summer family vacations.
A beloved husband, uncle, fantastic father to all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and now, ancestor.
He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be missed every day of our lives."
