

Jonah, Jon Richard, age 70, of Lakeside passed away January 15, 2014, at home surrounded by his family after a brave battle with cancer. Born in Hillsborough, NB, he was the son of the late Georgia and Patrick Fetinko and his dad the late Ozro Jonah.
Jon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a loving and caring person; he worked for the Halifax Regional School Board for sixteen years as a program assistant. During this time, he also drove taxi for over 40 years. He was the owner/operator of Scotia-Handi Bus and had his own catering truck in his earlier years. Jon loved golfing and was a member of the Avon Valley Golf Club along with his friends Larry, Brian, and Steve. Jon is survived by his wife, Betty (Ettinger); daughters, Shelly (Clayton) Ellingwood; Tracey (Andy) McIntyre; Nancy (Jason) Morash; sisters, Julie (Manfred) Wutzke; Connie (Del) Hansen; Sharon (Terry) McLeod; Christine (Bill) Casey; Angie Veness, and Heidi Fogarty; grandchildren, Travis, Holly, Kailey, Tony, Sammy, Matty, and Jon’s stepmother, Marjorie Jonah. He was predeceased by his brother, Terry. Celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014, in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street with Douglas Pickup officiating. Cremation has taken place with burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses or to Craig’s Cause (for pancreatic cancer).
