
MacDonald, Joseph – 93, of Halifax passed away October 31, 2012, at the Veterans’ Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Long Point, Nova Scotia, he was brought up by his aunt and uncle, John and Helen Chisholm.
Joseph was a veteran of WWII. He worked at the Department of Fisheries and then at HMC Dockyard and finally with the Corps of Commissionaires. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Jessie MacDonald, Harrietsfield; and his sons, Donald (Irene), Lower Sackville and Andrew, Lawrencetown, Halifax County; four grandchildren, Denise, Derek, Dawn Marie, and Scott; great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn MacDonald, Lindsay MacDonald, Kassandra MacDonald; Abigale Billard; and Hunter MacDonald; and great-great-grandson, Landon Colp.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife Florence; sons Lorne, Daniel, and Rufus, granddaughter, Lisa MacDonald, and great-granddaughter, Haydan MacDonald.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 5, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. Funeral service will take place in Cruikshank’s chapel, Tuesday, November 6, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
