Age 83, passed away on Thursday August 1, 2013, at the Halifax Infirmary - QEII surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. and Christine (MacDonald). Ken is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty; and their children Kenneth (Isabel), Laurie, and Kimberley (Chris). He also leaves the joy of his later years, his grandchildren Luke, Madeleine, Matthew, and Connor. He was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur and Roy. An electrician by trade he retired from Maritime Tel after thirty years of service. Many people will remember Ken as an athlete, a fierce competitor on both the hockey rink and baseball diamond. He played at both junior and senior levels throughout Nova Scotia and never passed up an opportunity to reminisce, tell a story, and share a chuckle. He will be remembered as a loving and proud father who exemplified family coming first and instilled this belief in his children as well. He will be greatly missed. The family extends its gratitude for the compassion shown by the staff of the Halifax Infirmary during this time. Visitation will take place in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. on Tuesday, August 6 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 7 at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Catholic Church.
