Kenneth John Amirault
26 Feb 1950 - 15 July 2023
With heavy hearts we announce Ken's recent passing, after a long period of declining health. Ken was a son of Majorie Anne (Boudreau) Babin and Alphonse Simon Amirault. He is survived by stepsisters Marilyn D'Entremond, Ella Muise, Bertha Brannen; stepbrother Walter Babin; nieces Kelly and Sandy and cousins Brenda (Neil) Saulnuier and Michael Jacquard. He was predeceased by his mother and father; stepfather George "Antoine" Babin; his brother Larry Amirault; step brothers Raymond, Earl and Roderick Babin; stepsister Alice; cousin Bruce, aunts Kathleen "Kay" Jacquard, Mildred Romaine, Blanche Tremea; uncles Harold and Edward (in infancy).
Born and raised in Yarmouth, Ken moved to Halifax and initially worked at the Chateau Halifax. He later enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a media technician with Freeman Audio Visual. His work enabled him to travel the world in support of many high-profile events, notably the Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996) and Shanghai (2008), as well as several Halifax Security Conferences.
Ken was a quiet and kind soul, a private person yet always ready to lend a helping hand, and with an artistic sensibility he expressed through a life-long passion for his photography.
Still a country boy at heart, Ken took a particular interest in the flow of life, both human and beast, observed over many camera trips to agricultural exhibitions across the province. Post-retirement years were devoted to editing his archive of these images.
Heartfelt gratitude to: Dr. E.B. Johnson, the teams at QEII Kidney Transplant Program, Memory Disability Clinic, and staff at the Halifax Infirmary (8.2) for their kind care in the last days.
Special thanks to "friend to the end" Pam Murphy.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Cruickshank's Funeral Home. By his request, there will be no funeral service, with private interment at a later date.
Ken will be dearly missed by family and friends alike. Donations in Ken's memory may be made to the SPCA, or the animal rescue organization of your choice.
