

MONT, William Kingsley (King) , 82 of Halifax, passed away on Wednesday January 11, 2012 in Drummond Hall after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Halifax, Kingsley was the son of the late Jack Mont and Cecilia (Belle) Broomfield Collyer. He graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School. He loved to play hockey. He attended Dalhousie University but left to work for Allan Foulis and at the time of his retirement was Vice President of Foulis Engineering Sales Ltd. In 1951 King married Grace Avery and they spent 54 loving years together. King had a strong religious faith and was a member of J. Wesley Smith and Fairview United Churches. At J. Wesley Smith he chaired the Board of Stewards and Official Board and served as Treasurer.He also was a cub leader . King loved the outdoors. Hunting at the camp in Clarkesville, fishing, gardening, walking, skating, or working around the cottage in Prospect were favourite activities. King was devoted to his family . He took pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren . When Grace developed cancer he cared for her at home until her death. King loved life and was always willing to help family or friends or lend a hand to a stranger. He was an inspiration to all around him. He is survived by his four children , Stephen (Nadine), Cole Harbour, Peter , Halifax, Norma Trim(Brian), Caledon, Ontario and Sheila, Halifax, grandchildren , Chris Mont( Bobbi Jo), Andrew Mont , Matthew Trim (Talitha), Danielle Trim(Justin), Justin Munden(Stephanie), Jenna Munden and Kelsey Munden and two great grandchildren, Cooper Kingsley Mont and Greyson Joseph Munden.He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Knapp( Bill), Arizona and Susan Brown ( Dixie) California , and sister in law Phyllis Mont, Saint John , N.B. as well as many nieces and nephews, long time family friend Norma McCulloch and friend Yvonne Schwartz.In addition to Grace, he was predeceased by his brother Marshall and granddaughter Katherine Lynn Cooper Mont . Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate King’s life will take place Tuesday Jan 24, 2012 at 11 am in Fairview United Church ,3524 Dutch Village Rd., Rev. Heather Fraser officiating. Visitation will take place Monday January 23, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in Cruickshank’s Halifax Funeral Home Windsor Street.The family would like to thank the staff at Drummond Hall for the special care they gave Kingsley during his final days.
