

Madeline Mary Tobin died January 11, 2012 at the Parkstone Enhanced Care facility in Halifax. She was born in Halifax, the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Catherine (Summers) Markley. Madeline celebrated her 100th birthday in 2011. She is survived by her son Douglas and his wife Theresa of Halifax; grandchildren, Thomas and his wife Wendy, Ottawa; Jennifer and her husband Paul, Halifax; and William, Los Angeles; and great granddaughters, Megan and Lauren Tobin, Ottawa. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas N. Tobin. Madeline was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being predeceased by brothers, Donald and Maurice; sisters, Catherine Markley, Eileen Chiasson and Marie Foster. Madeline was a long time employee of the Nova Scotia Savings and Loan Company prior to her retirement. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Monday January 16th, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday January 17th at 2pm, in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Oxford Street. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Special thanks to the staff of Princess Lane, Parkstone Enhanced Care, who were so kind to Madeline during her time there.
