
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Purcell age 76 at The Windsor Elms Village , Falmouth, formerly of Lily Lake Road in Mount Uniacke on June 24,2016. Born in Halifax, Marilyn was a daughter of the late Edward Anthony and Frances (Forbes) Purcell. She is survived by brothers Bob ( Bernadette ) , Ted ( Nancy ) and Rick ( Susan) , sisters Colleen Mitchell( Blair) and Alice ( Bruce) Graves as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Marilyn was also predeceased by her grandparents Robert and Sadie Forbes, Edward and Daisy Purcell, brothers Dennis and Donnie, sister Gaelene Tufts, brother in law , Robert Mitchell and longtime friend and companion, Avis Sheppard. Marilyn served in the Reserves of the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps having achieved the rank of Sargent in the Motor Transport Depot in Halifax in the late 1950’s and 1960’s. Marilyn was a 30 plus year employee at Hermes Electronics in Dartmouth. Visitation 2-4, 6-8 pm Wednesday June 29, 2016 with Funeral Service 11am Thursday June 30, 2016 both in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Halifax.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Marilyn name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
