Mary Violet Williams

December 8th, 1932 - December 5th, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Violet Williams, who left us peacefully of natural causes at the age of 92 at the QEII, with family by her side.

Born on December 8th, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, to parents Violet and Dennis Walsh (predeceased)

She is survived by her daughters Wanda Williams (Cape Breton), Janice Williams-Ford (Daniel) of Halifax, and Son Michael Williams (Linda Crawford) of Halifax, and 6 grandchildren (Tanya, Melody, Kevin Husbands (Jill), Melissa, Amanda, and Kyle Williams.

She is predeceased in death by parents Violet and Dennis Walsh (Brooklyn, New York), her husband James Atwood Williams, brother John Walsh, her sons Orville, Stephen, and Andrew Williams (Halifax), and loving companion for 25 years, Kenneth Young.

She worked as an accountant for the Provincial Government (Dept. of Education) for 25 years until retirement in 1994.

She enjoyed camping with family and friends for many years. She also loved music, and her passion was dancing.

Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home will be handling he cremation, and her burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, 6 Bedford Highway, Halifax, N.S. A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Dementia Society.
