He is also survived by his devoted partner Kimberley Clarke and his siblings Nolan Adams, Marlene Patterson, John Adams (Sharon), Lillian Symonds (Ted), Carla Bernard (Garry), Teena Adams, Perry Adams (Leslie), Paula Adams, and Sandra Cole (Basilon), along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, and life long friends. Milton was employed for 36 years with Halifax Regional Municipality City Works Department and retired in 2010. He also worked at the Army Navy Airforce Veterans in Canada Unit 373 from 2001 to 2017. Butch was a hard-working man who loved to laugh and gently tease those around him. People would call him the “baby whisperer” as children easily gravitated towards him and he could comfort any restless or crying child. He was known for his kindness, quick humour, infectious smile, and gentlemanly ways.
For the last 21 years, Milton was a member of the Masonic Order (Equity Lodge 106). At Equity Lodge Milton held the position of Past Master, and in Grand Lodge he held the position of Very Worshipful Grand Standard Bearer. Milton also held various positions as a Shriner (Philea Temple NS), the Order of Knights Templar (Perceptor), Order of the Eastern Star (Past Patron of Evening Star #28), Secret Order of the Monitors, the Royal Arch (Past Grand Capitan of the House for Nova Scotia and PEI), and the Royal Edward Conclave.
Visitation will take place in Halifax at Cruikshanks Funeral Home at 2666 Windsor St, on Sunday October 22nd from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm. A Masonic and Eastern Star Service will take place at the evening visitation commencing at 7pm. A church service is scheduled at Cornwallis Street Baptist Church on Monday October 23rd at 11 am with Dr. Rhonda Britton officiating. A repast will be held immediately following the service at the Masonic Lodge 167 Coronation Ave in Halifax from 1 – 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Cancer Research, the Dyslexia School in Dartmouth, or to the Shriners Children’s hospital, in Milton’s name.
