

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Olive at home on Friday April 4, 2014.Born in Prospect, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Regina (Noonan) Christian. Mum was a loving homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She was well known for her hospitality and her home cooking especially her homemade bread and pies.Mum loved music, she had a lovely singing voice. In her early years she played the organ in church and at home along with other instruments. She was also an avid card player, had a love for all kinds of animals, and watched CNN news faithful every day. She is survived by her daughter Paula Jean, Halifax, son Andrew (Marilyn), Prospect Bay. Two granddaughters Meagan, Bedford, Janine, Prospect Bay, grandson Richard Hanscomb, Beechville, step daughter Nancy Hanscomb Halifax, stepson Nathan (Dianne) Ryan; Riverview NB, step-granddaughters Theresa and Elizabeth Ryan, and step grandson Michael Ryan. She is also survived by nephews Weldon Coolen, Jack Coolen, niece Clarissa LeBlanc, special great nephew Patrick Coolen, and a special friend Steven Spooner. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald in 1991.Sisters Esther Dugan, Viola Coolen ,Brothers Erle and Sumner and special great niece Julie Coolen. Visitation will be held 3-8 pm Tuesday April 8, 2014 in Cruikshanks Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax. Funeral Mass will be held 11am Wednesday April 9, 2014 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Prospect. Fr. Duncan MacMaster officiating, Interment in church cemetery.
