Gray, Rita Mae 84, Halifax, passed away Thursday July 12, 2012 at the VG site, QEII. Born in Truro, a daughter of the late James Wellington and Christine (Clyke) Gray. A lifetime member of the Federal Government Public Servant, she began her career in 1954 with Eastern Command, RCEME. She also served four years in Canadian Woman’s Army Corp.(Reserve) attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. In a move to Toronto in 1957 she joined Dept. of Suppy and Services in the Payroll Benefits field. After a 1978 promotion to Ottawa as National Training Coordinator she retired in 1989. In 1990 she and her mother returned to Halifax. Rita loved music. In her early years she was involved in singing and sports, particularly softball and bowling. Later in life she was an avid sports and television fan. Rita is survived by a brother Carl ”Jimmie”(Marguerite) Gray and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Joan (Borden) David. Visitation 2-4 pm Sunday July 15th at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, where funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, with Rev. Thorton Williams officiating. Burial St. John’s Cemetery. Memorial dontations to Canadian Cancer Society.
