Passed in her birthplace of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Friday, April 3, 2015. Her husband and sweetheart of 60 years, William (Jack) Gillis, and their dog, Laila, are supported at this time by many loved ones including a surviving sibling (Gert Brown), cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. As a teenager, Stella was an employee of Moir’s chocolate factory, and later in adulthood, as a meat wrapper for Sobey’s. Stella will fondly be remembered for her love of walking her dogs (Drooper, Misty, and Kayla), gardening, fishing, bird-watching, playing games of chance and ‘going to the camp’. She is predeceased by much-loved family: parents, the late Arthur William and Florence Gertrude Judge (Newell), brothers, Arthur (Sarah) and John (Frankie), nephews, Bruce and David. Loved ones of Stella would like to extend special thanks to all those who have gathered around us at this time, especially Ward 5 (Doug and Susan), VON Nurses, Dr. McIntyre and Nurse Gillis, and Nurses Cathy, Lisa and Elizabeth at the VG Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, and to honour her proud, long-time residency of the Hydrostone, please be encouraged to make donations to the Ward 5 Community Centre. No services by request.
