Stella Marie Girard

We, the family of Stella Marie Girard (Logan) are profoundly saddened to announce her death. Stella passed away at home in her sleep on December 11, 2016.

She is survived by her husband, Paul, who was her best friend, her children Becky (Ellis), John (Lisa), Janice (Greg), Tracy (Peter), Reena (Danny), Jennifer , Stephanie (Jerry), JP (Jill) all of whom will dearly miss her, as well as her grandchildren Stephanie, Dawn, Jessie, Tara, Paul, Taylor, Sydney, Jordan, Morgan, Jack, Dominic, Nicholas, Lila and Henry. She delighted in being a great-grandmother to Wren and Willa, and long distance to Jacob, Cassidy, MacKenzie and Ellis. She will be missed by her brother, Lorne (Sandra) , her friends Kerol, Peggy and Blanche, and her many nieces and nephews.

Stella was a counsellor for many years and helped countless people put their lives back together, and continued to see a few clients until her death. She led a life that started out challenging and turned it into a full and happy one. She and Paul skied, travelled, danced and laughed. They loved to golf! Stella struggled with the game she loved, and persevered until she could hit that “ball in the air!” Her last game was October in a tournament; she was the oldest golfer there and excelled taking home the top prizes of “closest to the line” and “longest drive!”

She loved Christmas, and turkey dinner was a “go” any time of the year. Stella/ Mom/ Nan/ Nanny will be dearly missed and always in our hearts!

As per Stella’s request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home on 2666 Windsor Street on Saturday, December 17 at 2 PM. Family flowers and donations in Stella’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
