Ross (Renouf), Sybil Josephine, 99 of Halifax passed away December 9, 2011 at her home on Cherry Street. Born in Sandy Point, Newfoundland she was the daughter of John Robert Renouf and Louisa Maud (LeRoux) Renouf. Sybil graduated high school in Halifax and went on to attend Maritime Business College. Following her marriage and after several years as a homemaker she was employed as a secretary and office assistant at W & A Moir Machinists. She ceased work upon her husband’s retirement from Maritime Tel & Tel, and together they enjoyed many years of travel to New England. Upon the death of her husband, at age 73, she attended Dalhousie University where she studied Sociology and Political Science, something in which she took great pride. At age 73, she also learned to drive. In later years, she particularly enjoyed political discussions, reading, watching the cooking channel, and being surrounded by family and friends. It speaks volumes about Sybil to know that her 100th birthday request was for a treadmill. Special thanks to Dr. Robert L Brown, and to caregivers Donna, Dora, Susan, Joann, Ethel, and Maryann, who made it possible for her to remain in her own home. She was involved in Marion S. Morrow Chapter of the I.O.D.E, United Church Women at St. Andrew’s United Church. She lived a full life and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter Lynn, Halifax; sisters-in-law Dorothy, Halifax and Luc Renouf, Florida; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a great-great-nephew. She is predeceased by her husband Waldo, brothers Gerald, Benjamin, Harold, and sister Ada Bayers.
