He was born in Paparis Greece in 1926 to Christo and Maria Migas. Two brothers followed; George and Louis. He grew up in the village with the love of his life Penny, and they married in 1951. Theodore was born the next year and they immigrated to Canada in 1959 to start a new life in Halifax. Christo came along in 1963 to complete the family.
He was a long time member of the Greek Orthodox Church. He was a decorated and well-known chef. He kept many people happy at Blowers Fine Foods, and then opened Old Man Morias in 1977. For 20 years he practiced his culinary magic and won many accolades and awards. They used to say he could take shoe leather and make it taste like filet mignon.
He will be remembered as a family centered man who loved his children very much.
He is survived by his spouse of 65 years Penny Migas, children Theodore (Anne) and Dr. Christo Migas (Dr. Terry Comeau), grandchildren Vasilios and Tassia ( Shawn).
Visitation will be held Sunday July 10th 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Cruikshanks Funeral Home on Windsor St in Halifax. Funeral service to be held on Monday July 11th at 1pm at St George’s Greek Orthodox Church on Purcells Cove in Halifax with internment at the Fairview Cemetery followed by a reception at the church.
