Violet Catherine Jeffrey

Jeffrey, Violet Catherine, 93, passed away September 13, 2023 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre.

Born in Halifax, NS May 5, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Edward (Jack) Dill and Rita (DiPonia, Meriggi) Dill.

Violet was a housekeeper all her life. She very much enjoyed going to the casino and loved old Hollywood movies. She was especially fond of Betty Boop and had a large amount of collectibles. She loved to dance and would be the first to get on the floor. She also loved to go on drives and outings around the province with her daughter Gina.

Violet is survived by her daughters Gina Jeffrey (Halifax), Mary Kearns (John), Ontario; her brother, John Dill (Sackville), 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Percy Jeffrey, sons: Robert, John (Freddie) and Timothy Jeffrey; brothers Ernest and Joseph Meriggi, Ronald, Donald and Thomas Dill; sisters: Helen and Josephine Meriggi, Clara Novelli and Glenna Mercier.

Visitation will be held at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street in Halifax on Tuesday September 26, 2023 from 5-8 pm. A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary’s Basilica, 5221 Spring Garden Road on Wednesday September 27, 2023 at 10am. Burial to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 33 Old Sackville Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Violet’s memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Nova Scotia.
