Wilbert Timothy "Bert" Conrad

Conrad, Wilbert Timothy “Bert” passed away peacefully at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax on Friday, October 24, 2014, at the age of 87. Bert was born in Western Shore, Lunenburg Co. He worked at Stelco Refineries for 25 years, was owner of Lakeside Hotel in Port Burwell, and Bert was also the Owner of Conrad Meat Market for 30 years in Western Shore. He was an Honorary Volunteer Fireman with Western Shore Fire Department for 15 years. He enjoyed wood-working, gardening, and spending time with his family. Bert is survived and remembered by his loving wife of 16 years, Greta (Garland) of Halifax; daughters, Heather (Gil) Hardy of Ontario, and Sandra Conrad of Western Shore; son, Bob (Nora) of Ontario; Step-daughters; Cathy (Paul) Potvin, Alberta, Brenda Garland, Halifax, Gena (Guy) LaFleaur, Alberta, Step-sons; Bill Garland, Alberta, Ross Garland, N.B., and Billy Baxter, Halifax. Sisters, Jennie Richardson, Joan Mosher, Betty Boutlier of Western Shore, Grace Crouse of Bridgewater; Brothers, Haley Conrad of Western Shore; Mark Conrad of Western Shore; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Bert was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Eve Conrad; his first wife, the former Nellie Cooper; brothers: Freeman and Fred Conrad; Step-daughter Wendy and Step-sons Johnny and Myles in infancy. The visitation will be held 10am – 11am Tuesday, October 28 at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax, where funeral service will be held 11a.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Ron Barkhouse officiating. Following cremation, burial will be held 11 AM - Thursday November 6, 2014 in Martin's Point Cemetery, Western Shore. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or your charity of choice.
