

Fong, William Since “Bill” “Willie”-79, of Halifax passed away May 6, 2012 suddenly at home in his sleep. Born in Campbellton, NB he was the son of the late Since and Mah Shee Fong. Bill lived his early years in Dalhousie, NB before moving to Halifax in the 1940’s. He received his early education from Tower Road School and then Queen Elizabeth High School, before obtaining his Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Dalhousie University. He then went on to become a Chartered Accountant and worked many years at Mount Saint Vincent’s Mother House. Bill was a loving father and devoted husband. He enjoyed years of volunteering as the treasurer at Fort Massey United Church, where he also sang in the choir. Bill was a member of Keith Lodge No. 17, where he received three degrees and played the trumpet for the Philae Shriners “Smoothies” band. He is survived by his wife Brenda E. Fong (MacDougall); son, Dr. Peter M. Fong (Lise), Rothesay, NB; son-in-law, Frank Turner, Calgary; sisters, Jean Seto, Kay Ali, Annie Jones; brothers, Dow Fong, Mone Fong, George Fong; grandchildren, Jamie and Luke Turner of Calgary, Bruce and Melissa Fong of Rothesay; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer; sisters, May Fong, Eileen Fong; brothers, Ernest, Dannie, Sam and Quon.
Visitation will be held on Thursday May 10, from 7-9pm in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, with a Masonic Service starting at 6pm. Memorial service will be held on Friday May 11 at 2pm from Fort Massey United Church, Rev. Trent Cleveland-Thompson officiating. With a reception to follow. Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
