Age 97 of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at his residence. He was born on November 24, 1915 in Barboursville, Kentucky the son of the late James and Amelia (Cobb) Downey. On May 19, 1950 he married Cynthia A. Taylor in Eaton, Ohio. Art was a stock operator for Champion retiring in 1977. He was a US Army Veteran and member of Freedom Baptist Church. Art is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cynthia A. Downey; two sons, Carl E. (Barbara) Downey and James A. (Doris) Downey; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son Jack L. Downey and five sisters, Paralee Hurd, Marina Dallas, Ethel Newman, Elizabeth Cheek and Esther Blankenship. Funeral ceremony will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday December 26, 2012 at the Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul E. Tillett officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Art’s memory to Freedom Baptist Church, 1766 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
