

August George Kolb, Sr., age 89 of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Hamilton on March 28, 1923, the son of the late August and Ethel (Feltman) Kolb. August served in the Army Air Corps as a Radio Mechanic during WWII. On October 28, 1961 in Hamilton, he married his wife of over 44 years, Marie Ann Wankmiller, and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2006. August was a Champion “old-timer,” working as a Supervisor at Champion International Papers for 39 years before his retirement. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hamilton. August loved woodcrafts and attending woodcraft shows, but most of all, he loved life and his family. August is survived by his children, August (Shawntel) Kolb, Jr., Deborah (Donald E. Sr.) Willer and Barbara (Melvin Sr.) Parker; grandchildren, Crystal (Chris), Kristin (Arthur), Christina (Lyndale), Auggie (Liz), Elyse, Donnie (Tracie), David (Amanda), Melvin (Kara), Jonny (Amber) and Danny (Megan); eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Caroline (Larry) Rulon and Linda Wankmiller; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Mary Ellen Straub, Jonathan August Kolb and Claire Lane Kolb; and brother-in-law, Charles Wankmiller, Jr.. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 6pm until 8pm at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton. There will be a Private Funeral Service with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests that memorial donations be made in August’s name to Grace United Methodist Church, 1200 West Main Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
