She was born on February 22, 1931 in Paxton, Illinois to the late Thomas and Lavauda {Deering} James. Betty was married to Fred Herzog in 1947. She retired from the Beckett Paper Company after 32 years of work. Betty is survived by her children, Carolyn (Roy) Barker, Brenda (Ralph) Magill, and Fred (Cindy) Herzog Jr.; grandchildren, Jeff (Michelle) Barker and Laura (Daniel) Klingenberg; great grandchildren, Chloe (Curtis) Masters, Alyson (John) Manfreda, Gabriel Barker and Kyla Klingenberg; and great-great grandchild, Esther Masters; sisters, Eva Baker and Loretta (Steve) Pennington; sister-in-law, Helen (Chris) James; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Johnson, Diana Scott, Delmar James, Donald James, Clifton James, Thomas James and Chris James. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 2pm, at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, with a visitation to take place two hours prior from 12pm until 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to West Side Church of Christ or a charitable organization of their choosing.
