

Donald M. Ellingson, age 82, of Hamilton, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016. He was born in Hamilton on August 17, 1934, the son of Ernest and Hazel (Wilson) Ellingson. While attending Hamilton High School, he was on the track team and went to the state finals. Don served four years in the U.S. Air Force and four years active reserve in the U.S. Navy. He attended Middle Tennessee State College and later graduated from the Career Academy School of Broadcasting. In 1969, he married Imogene Beckett at Grace United Methodist Church. Don never lost his interest in sports and enjoyed coaching, playing golf and watching the UK Wildcats. He worked at Avon for twenty-five years. After retiring, he and Imogene moved to the Colonial Lake area of Hamilton where he served as a trustee. They also had more time to travel, which included visiting Imogene’s brother and sister-in-law, Dale and June Beckett. Don is survived by his step-children, Gail (David) Ruff, Tari (Dennis) Valentini, Gary (Suzanne) Sloneker and Sue Sloneker; sister, Kathryn (Benjamin) Pierson; eleven grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; step-son, Timothy Sloneker; and siblings, Robert Vernon and Carol Ellingson. Visitation will be held from 10am until 10:30am on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, 240 Ross Avenue, Hamilton. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
