News Death Notice

DAY, Doris Mae Went home to be with her Savior and Lord on Friday, July 19, at the age of 81. She had suffered poor health for the past several weeks. Doris was born on February 24, 1932 in Hamilton, Ohio to parents, Robert and Lille (Hurst) Gabbard. She was a lifelong resident of the Hamilton area. She attended Fairfield Schools. In earlier days, Doris was employed by the Mercy Hospital and Schul's Ice Cream, both in Hamilton. On June 12, 1954, in Hamilton, she married Samuel Duane Day. He preceded her in death in 2007 after 53 years of marriage. Doris was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Denver; brother, Robert, Jr., and a sister, Louella. She leaves a son, Cecil and wife, Melanie Day. Grandchildren: Greg and wife, Amy Day and Kristen Day. She also leaves a brother; Don Gabbard and wife, Jewell. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Doris was a charter member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Indian Springs, Ohio. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder and Hospice of Cincinnati for their kind and thoughtful care.
