

Doris Eileen Delker, age 86 of Greenwood, SC, formerly of Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Doris was born on September 12, 1926 in Dayton, the daughter of the late James and Sinda (Truett) Elam. She graduated from Berea High School in Berea, KY. On August 1, 1952 in Fort Wayne, IN, Doris married her husband of 37 years, Bicknell Emerson Delker, and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1989. She went on to marry her husband of 18 years, James Starling, on March 25, 1994 in Abbeville, SC. Doris was a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary – Greenwood, SC Chapter. She loved bowling, playing softball, gardening and collecting antiques. Doris is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Wayne Delker and his wife Lynn; grandchildren, Andrew Delker, Rebecca Delker and Erin Delker; sister, Kathleen (Elam) Teague; friend, Marie Malcolm; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Bicknell; and siblings, Lee Pennington, Ruby (Elam) Helton, Lucille Elam, Edward Elam, Bernice (Elam) Eden and Ruth Elam. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 11am to 12noon at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton. Immediately following the visitation, a Funeral Service will be held at 12:15pm at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Larry Davis officiating. Memorial donations may be made in Doris’ name to the Williams Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Home, 711 Scotch Cross Road East, Greenwood, SC 29646.
