

Dorothy M. Sawyers, age 90 of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Hospice of Hamilton. She was born on May 15, 1922 in Laurel County, KY to the late James and Laura Bell (Hensley) Wyatt. On June 17, 1940 in Newport, KY, Dorothy married her husband of over 53 years, James M. Sawyers, and he preceded her in death on September 21, 1993. She grew up in a Pentecostal home, was a signmaker for Schmidt’s Signery, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and sold Coventry and Avon products. Dorothy is survived by her four sons, James Sawyers, Jr. of London, KY, George “Ed” Sawyers of Hamilton, Chuck (Joy) Sawyers of Waco, KY and Ronald Sawyers of Clearwater, FL; her loving and devoted daughter, Laura Clontz of Hamilton; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Willa Mae Arnett of Kettering and Betty VanSchick of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and numerous special friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; step-father, Harlin Hughes; and ten brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1pm at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton with Pastor Mark McVay officiating. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 4pm until 6pm at the funeral home.
