Edgardo Silva

Edgardo Silva, age 93, of Hamilton passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024. He was born November 7, 1930 in Ojojona, Honduras to Maria Martinez and Jose Cristobal Silva. He married the love of his life, Lillian Silva, on February 3, 1954 and she preceded him in death in 2021. He dedicated the last 10 years of her life caring for her during a lengthy illness.

Edgardo first and foremost loved and was proud of his family having sacrificed significantly to ensure their success. He was an avid gardener who tended to an ever changing flower garden. He had a passion for music and listened to his vinyl record collection daily. He was very disciplined and taught himself to play many musical instruments on his own, he also sketched and enjoyed painting. He was a fanatic for physical fitness from the time he was 17 years old. At the age of 93 would still exercise twice daily.

He studied at Escuela Agricola Panamericana El Zamorano, Honduras graduating with an engineering degree in agriculture. He owned a large poultry farm in Honduras before moving to the United States. He worked and retired from Southwestern Ohio Steel Co. as a machinist after decades of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian Silva; son, Luis Fernando Silva (Holly); two great-grandchildren; brother, Rafael Silva; sisters Sonia Silva Martinez, Ana Margarita Silva Martinez, Ricarda Silva Martinez.

Edgardo is survived by his daughter, Carol (Mike) Hartman; sons, Francisco (Ursula) Silva, Juan Carlos (Barbara) Silva, Martin Javier Silva; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. He will be loved and cherished by a host of family and friends.

The family would like to thank those who cared for our beloved father and grandfather. Grandson Greg Silva, caregivers Paula, Fanny, Clariza, Dr. Jennifer Winters and her staff, Hospice of Cincinnati, Elderly Services Butler County, A Miracle Home Care (Adam), neighbor Sue Marvin, Father Michael Pucke from Saint Peter in Chains Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held at the Saint Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45013 from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Father Michael Pucke, officiating.
