

Elizabeth "Betty" Bruder, age 101 of Hamilton, passed away at Westover Retirement Community on Thursday, June 26, 2014. She was born in Hamilton on October 14, 1912, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Trapp) Conner. She married George Bruder who preceded her in death in April 1987. Betty was a member of The Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and was active in the Ladies Circle. Elizabeth was a former employee of Helen Peden Gift Shop in Oxford. She volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and Director, was a member of the Current Events Club, and played piano for various groups, including Westover. Betty enjoyed playing bridge and golf. She was devoted to her family and an avid Bible reader. She is survived by her children, Jane (Thomas) Smith of Fairfield and Richard (Lois) Bruder of Oxford; grandchildren, Gregory Smith, Geoffrey (Debbie) Smith, Kurt (Beth) Bruder, and Craig (Holly) Bruder; great-grandchildren, Cory (Karen) Smith, Amanda Smith, Rebecca Bruder, Kelsey Bruder, Keaton Bruder, Meghan Bruder, and Aiden Bruder; close friend, Adeline; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Frank Conner. Graveside Service will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 3:30 PM in Greenwood Cemetery with Dr. John Lewis officiating. A Memorial Gathering will be held at Westover Retirement Community, 855 Stahlheber Road on Thursday from 6:00 PM till time of Memorial Service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Dr. William F. Jones officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to The Presbyterian Church or Westover Retirement Community. Betty’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Westover for their care and concern over the past years.
