Janet Carol Manley passed away on November 29, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton following a lengthy illness. Janet was born on an icy, cold night, January 23, 1955 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marlene Manley, grandparents Nettie Powers, Robert Powers, Clay Clark, Kelly Manley and Nellie Manley. She is survived by her father, Charles Manley, brother Brent Manley, brother Mark Manley, and brother Kevin Manley (Kirsten). Janet is also survived by a host of friends and dear former students. Janet was a graduate of Xenia High School (1973), Anderson College (1978) and Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois where she received a Master of Arts in Theater (1997). Her Master’s Degree Production of "Inherit the Wind" was an artistic revelation. Janet loved great music and compelling live theater. Janet was an exceptional musician who played piano and organ, sang in choirs, and performed solos. She directed many choirs in her time. She had a lovely voice and read music impeccably. She herself was a great choral singer. At her core, Janet Manley was a gifted, and highly respected teacher who genuinely cared for her students. Janet taught students K-12 in Crothersville, Indiana and Hamilton, Ohio. Janet taught thousands of students to love music and live theater. Many plays and musicals directed by Janet at Hamilton High School and Hamilton Civic Theater are now legendary. She was inducted into the Hamilton City School District Performing Arts Hall of Fame. Her students say that she was loving, kind, and always had an ear to listen and to help them process life. With her wisdom and grace, she helped countless young people. Janet met her destiny while working with students.

Janet is now at peace and her body is healed. A Gathering will be held to honor the life of Janet Carol Manley from 12pm until 2pm on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, 240 Ross Avenue in Hamilton, Ohio. A Memorial Service will begin at 2pm. The service will be live-streamed via the funeral home's Facebook page for those who can not be in attendance.
