

JoAnn K. Jonson of Hamilton, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the age of 76. She was born March 23, 1937, in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of Luther and Marianna (Veal) Plessinger. Her family moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she attended public schools. JoAnn worked for Spiegel Catalog Co. and was transferred to the Hamilton store in 1962 as store manager. In 1964 she met and married the love of her life Christ N. Jonson and they united their families of six children. JoAnn worked at the Butler County Recorder's Office retiring in 2000 as Chief Deputy Recorder with 30 years of service. JoAnn was active in many school activities, serving as PTA President, many fund raising events and volunteer editor of Taft HS athletic sport programs. She was a member and past president of the Amicitia Club. JoAnn was a member and past president of the Butler County Women's Republican Club, and then became Central Committee Chairperson for the Butler Co. Republican Party retiring in 2000, having won many leadership awards. She served as a Board Member of the Butler Co. Board of Elections from 1989 to 1999. JoAnn was an oil painting artist who also enjoyed knitting, sewing, needlework and glass painting. Her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Christ, her parents, her brother, Donald Plessinger and two grandsons, Jason Kovats and Jimmy Brown. She is survived by six children, James D. (Charlene) Brown of Hamilton, Susan E. (Gary) Brown of Hamilton, Stephen E. (Rosemary) Brown of Hamilton, Stephanie (Eric) Kovats of Winter Park, FL, Jennifer Roberts of Hamilton and Nicholas C. (Vicki) Jonson of University Place, WA; fifteen grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. JoAnn was a member of the Hamilton Christian Center and loved her church and Pastors, Johnny Wade and Dianne Sloan, Associate Pastor and Music Minister Derwin Ward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hamilton Christian Center or a charity of one's choice
