John "John Pot" A. Philpot Sr.

John Austin "John Pot" Philpot age 81, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 23, 2012. He was born May 8, 1930, the son of William Edward “Ed” and Ira (Gray) Philpot. He was born and raised in New Miami, Ohio. John was retired from AK Steel and New Miami Fire Dept. John was a member of Washington Lodge F&AM. In Richmond, Indiana on March 18, 1950, John married his wife of over 36 years, Dolores Roberts. She preceded him in death on March 27, 1986. He was also preceded in death by his daughter April Dawn Phelps in 2007; a grandson Jason Todd Webb in 2010; and several brothers and sisters. John is survived by his daughter, Beverly Jo (Jerry) Kellum; his sons, John A. Philpot Jr. and Dennis (Vera Whicker) Philpot all of New Miami; his grandchildren, Michael John Fry, Chad Fry, Danielle Lusk, Angela Lusk (Jeremy) Guilliaume, and Shante Philpot; a special sister-in-law, Judy Philpot; his best friend Jake Collins and card playing buddies, Jon and Billy; special nieces Cindy Roof and Elane Elam; and nephew Walter Philpot. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 28, 2011, with Pastor Walter Philpot officiating. Interment will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Ohio. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and will be missed and loved forever by everyone.
